If your sims live in a multi-story house some of behavior may be off. Basically, it only works on the 1st floor. For example, if sims are all sleeping upstairs and lightning strikes to cause a power outage, the power won't actually go out until a sim comes downstairs. I experienced an issue today where origin keep asking me for updating the game although I've done it. I've tried many different ways to fix this issue and I finally figured out how.

1. Sims 4 Won't Launch

'Unable to start: The contents of your user data directory were created by a newer version of The Sims 4 and cannot be loaded. Please update your game via Origin to play.'
If you get an error message above, it means there is/are wrong with your file(s). In this case, the cause is the script of default.ini file incorrect. Here's the solution:

Option 1

1. Go to 'bin' folder in The Sims 4 installation folder location. Default location for The Sims 4 'bin' folder (Digital version):
   - Windows XP or later 32 bit version: C:Program FilesOrigin GamesThe Sims 4GameBin.
   - Windows XP or later 64 bit version: C:Program Files (x86)Origin GamesThe Sims 4GameBin.
2. Open 'default.ini' file with notepad, scroll down and find the 'gameversion' tag. Change the version number with the correct number.
   If you're not sure or don't know what the correct version number, You can find it here:
   • Go to Control Panel, Click 'Uninstall a Program' under 'Programs' menu.
   • Scroll down and find 'The Sims 4', note the number on the 'Version' section. This number will replace the incorrect number in default.ini file.
     
3. YOU ARE READY TO PLAY!

If the steps above doesn't work, you may wish to follow the steps below :

Sims 4 Won't Launch

Option 2

1. Go to The Sims 4 Installation folder. Default folder for digital version:
   - Windows XP or later 32 bit version: C:Program FilesOrigin GamesThe Sims 4.
   - Windows XP or later 64 bit version: C:Program Files (x86)Origin GamesThe Sims 4.
   Back up all things into a safe path/folder wherever you like. Wait until it is finished, then go to 'GameBin' and delete the 'default.ini' file.
   
2. Uninstall The Sims 4. You can uninstall The Sims 4 via Control Panel, click 'Uninstall a Program' under 'Programs' menu, right click 'The Sims 4' then click 'uninstall/change'.
   
3. Go to C:Program FilesOrigin Games (or C:Program Files (x86)Origin Games for 64 bit version of Windows), create 'The Sims 4' folder, and copy all things You've backup (The Sims 4 files and folders) into 'The Sims 4' folder You've just created, wait until it's finished.
   
4. Back to Origin app. Select 'The Sims 4' on your game library and Click download button. You don't need download it from the beginning, because you already have almost all The Sims 4 files.


5. YOU'RE READY TO PLAY

'Unable to start: The contents of your user data directory were created by a newer version of The Sims 4 and cannot be loaded. Please update your game via Origin to play.'
Jika kamu mendapatkan pesan seperti itu, artinya ada beberapa file yang salah. Pada kasus ini penyebabnya adalah isi skrip dari file default.ini yang tidak benar. Berikut solusi untuk masalah ini:

Pilihan 1

1. Pergi ke folder 'bin' di lokasi instalasi The Sims 4. Lokasi default folder 'bin' The Sims 4 :
   - Windows XP atau yang lebih baru versi 32 bit: C:Program FilesOrigin GamesThe Sims 4GameBin.
   - Windows XP atau yang lebih baru versi 64 bit: C:Program Files (x86)Origin GamesThe Sims 4GameBin.
2. Buka file 'default.ini' menggunakan notepad, gulir ke bawah sampai menemukan tag 'gameversion'. Ubah angka versi tersebut ke versi yang benar.
   Cara menemukan versi The Sims 4:
   • Pergi ke Control Panel > Klik 'Uninstall a Program' di bawah menu 'Programs'
   • Gulir ke bawah sampai menemukan The Sims 4, lihat dan catat bagian 'Version'. Angka ini yang nantinya akan dimasukkan ke file default.ini menggantikan angka versi yang tidak benar.
     
3. KAMU SIAP MEMAINKANNYA!

Jika langkah di atas tidak berhasil, coba gunakan Pilihan 2 di bawah

Pilihan 2

1. Pergi ke folder instalasi The Sims 4. Folder default untuk versi digital:
   - Windows XP atau yang lebih baru versi 32 bit: C:Program FilesOrigin GamesThe Sims 4.
   - Windows XP atau yang lebih baru versi 64 bit: C:Program Files (x86)Origin GamesThe Sims 4.
   Salin semua folder ke tempat/folder yang aman. Tunggu sampai selesai lalu pergi ke folder 'GameBin' lalu hapus file 'default.ini'
   
2. Uninstall The Sims 4. Kamu dapat meng-unistallnya melalui Control Panel, klik 'Uninstall a Program' di bawah menu 'Programs', klik kanan 'The Sims 4' lalu klik 'uninstall/change'.
   


3. Pergi ke C:Program FilesOrigin Games (atau C:Program Files (x86)Origin Games untuk Windows versi 64 bit), buat folder 'The Sims 4', dan salin semua folder yang telah kamu backup ke folder 'The Sims 4' yang baru saja kamu buat.
   
4. Kembali ke aplikasi Origin. Pilih 'The Sims 4' di Game Library kalian lalu klik tombol download. Kamu tidak perlu mengunduhnya dari awal karena kamu sudah mempunyai hampir seluruhnya file The Sims 4.
5. KAMU SIAP MEMAINKANNYA!
