Fallout 4 Save Files

Posted on

So I need to do a clean install and I copied all my games from my 'common' folder to another HDD. I don't see a 'save' folder in the FO4 folder so I checked my 'documents' where some games put the save files, but it's not there either.

Forums:Index > Fallout 4 general discussion > Fallout 4 save file size and console performance. Which is best?

The next value up from FF would be 2 bytes which would give us hex FF FF or 65,535 which would have given us far more space for mods than we could possibly use. Mod organizer mod limit.

FO4 has only been out for a couple weeks but I'm sure someone here has a large save file already.

Q #1. How big is your file?

Q #2. Which console do you have?

Q #3. Are there any issues with how the game runs?

I got burned owning the PS3 and playing Skyrim and FO:NV. I just want to figure out which console runs FO4 best, if there is even a difference.

  1. Nearly 40 hours in and my latest save file is 9.58MB. Earliest save is half that size.
  2. PC
  3. The game has your typical Gamebryo glitches but it's still a lot more playable than past Fallout titles. So far it hasn't crashed once on me, but I did run into a couple quest glitches that required me to reload an earlier save.
The Xbone version is definitely the worst performing version but the PS4 version doesn't fare much better. Both consoles rarely go past 30 FPS and average in the upper 20s, dipping as low as the teens when using a scoped weapon. A $400 gaming PC stomps both console versions, so you definitely want to get the game for PC. A quick file just before getting on the elevator which will allow you to re-build your character quickly.
  1. Named save will prevent accidental deletion and makes your save list look cleaner.
  2. All items have been picked up including healing items/Trash. Cryolator has not been picked up
  3. Female And Male Versions with default starting names and looks.

How To:

Fallout 4 new save filesTo create a custom named save all you need to do is type into the console this command.

Fallout 4 Game Save

(You need the Quote marks as they define the save title) Here are a few below as examples.

Savegame 'Vault 111 Start'
Savegame 'Sniper Build'
Savegame 'Grognak The HeadSmasher'
Savegame 'Stupid Character'

You can do this at any time you like to create a named save. Once you type the code it will save the game in the Character slot with the custom title.
